Technical Guidance for Pneumatic Fastener Selection

Choosing the correct gauge and length of fastener is essential for project durability and aesthetic quality. Below are the most common questions regarding our pneumatic fastener range.

Staples provide significantly more resistance to pull-through than nails because the crown of the staple acts as a built-in washer. This is especially important when attaching thin 3mm or 6mm backs to particle board or MDF gables, as it ensures the back remains firmly attached even if the cabinet is subjected to racking during transport or installation.

A general rule for professional shops is that the fastener should be three times the thickness of the material being attached, but it must not exceed the depth of the receiving member. Ensuring your pneumatic tool is held perpendicular to the work surface and that your air pressure is correctly regulated will also help prevent the fastener from veering out the side of the panel.
