Precision Thermal Bonding

Superior Hot Melt Technology for High-Output Cabinetry Shops

Efficiency in a professional workshop relies on materials that perform consistently every time the machine is powered on. Our edgebanding adhesives are selected for their excellent melting properties and clean machining characteristics, which help to minimize glue line visibility and reduce buildup on your equipment. By integrating these high-performance adhesives into your workflow, you benefit from a one-stop-shop approach that pairs premium bonding agents with the high-quality sheet goods and hardware your business relies on for every project.

Hot Melt Performance

Engineered for High-Speed Automated Production Lines

Our hot melt adhesives are formulated to meet the demanding cycle times of industrial edgebanding machinery. These adhesives provide an aggressive initial tack and rapid setting speed, allowing parts to be handled and processed immediately after the edge is applied. This thermal stability ensures that the adhesive remains consistent in the glue pot without charring or degrading, which is essential for maintaining the longevity of your machinery and the structural integrity of your finished cabinetry components.

Common Questions Regarding Edgebanding Adhesives

Selecting and applying the right adhesive is critical to preventing delamination and ensuring a clean finish. Here are the most frequent technical questions we receive regarding edgebanding bonding.

Most standard hot melt adhesives require an operating temperature between 180°C and 210°C to achieve the proper viscosity for application. It is important to verify the temperature at the application roller, as a drop in heat can lead to a "cold bond" where the adhesive fails to properly wet the substrate or the edging material.

Achieving an invisible glue line starts with selecting an adhesive with low filler content and ensuring your machinery is properly calibrated. A thin, even application of adhesive is sufficient for a permanent bond; applying too much glue will often result in a thicker, more visible line and can cause excess squeeze-out that requires additional cleaning time.

Delamination is often caused by the adhesive cooling too quickly before the pressure rollers can firmly seat the edgebanding against the substrate. This can occur if the ambient temperature in the shop is too low, if the board itself is cold, or if the feed speed of the machine is set too slow for the specific open time of the adhesive being used.

While it is possible to switch, it is highly recommended to thoroughly clean the glue pot and application system before introducing a different formula. Mixing different adhesive chemistries can lead to inconsistent melting points and may cause the glue to char or clog the internal components of your edgebanding equipment.

We offer specific formulations designed for the different feed speeds of manual and automatic machines. Manual edgebanders typically require a glue with a longer open time and lower melting point, whereas high-speed automatic lines require a faster-setting adhesive that can keep up with the rapid pace of industrial production.
