For structural components, cold-forming plywood is generally intended to be laminated in layers. Two or three layers, securely bonded and clamped to the final shape, are typically required to create a rigid, self-supporting curved panel that will hold its shape after the form is removed.

Yes, cold-forming plywood is available in two types: long grain (bends along the 8-foot length) and short grain (bends along the 4-foot width). We supply both options to ensure fabricators can select the panel that achieves the desired curvature with maximum efficiency.

For permanent, high-strength bonds in cold-forming applications, we recommend specialized rigid or semi-rigid industrial adhesives, such as urea-formaldehyde or high-quality PVA glues, applied evenly and clamped securely to the form until fully cured.

Our standard cold-forming plywood is supplied with a utility face veneer, primarily intended as a substrate. We also offer options with finish-grade veneers, suitable for staining or clear coating if the panel is not going to be laminated or covered with a decorative material.

To maintain its intended flexibility and prevent premature warping, cold-forming plywood should be stored flat, off the floor, in a dry, climate-controlled environment, and protected from excessive humidity until the moment it is ready to be placed into the curved form.
